Santa Monica, CA – September 22nd 2009 – Killing Time is a departure from any Game Wizards game done so far. This game harkens back to the old 2D side scrollers like Metroid, Metal Slug and Golden Axe, but with up to date high end 3D graphics. It’s a game that’s adventure filled, and full of action.
Matt Hutchinson the original Project Lead cam across an Unreal MOD that allowed the engine to be utilized as a side scroller game. This gave Matt the inspiration to have the Game Wizards come up with their own version. Along with Thom Owens and Sean McNamara they pitched the concept and it was selected for the Spring 2008 cycle of projects. Only a few weeks into the quarter though Matt got an internship at EA Redwood Shores to work on the game “Dead Space”. So Sean and Thom stepped up to become project Leads, with a team of 30 Game Wizards to work with.
The team knew they wanted a cool multiplayer experience so focused on that for the first quarter of development. They did lots of play testing to make sure it was a fun experience. Then it was decided if they were going to stay close to the old school inspirations for the title the team needed to develop a single player option complete with puzzles, power ups and boss fights.
In the end Killing Time is a really unique addition to the catalog of Game Wizards games.
